Promotional Literature Sent to Consumers by Union Workers Credit Services

Since April 28, 2005 Union Workers Credit Services, a third party credit card offering, was the source of 20 complaints and 2,173 inquiries from the public. Subject firm states in its promotional literature “Good things happen to good people like you” you are “Pre-Approval for a $10,000 credit limit”. According to the firm over 5 million pieces of mail were sent.

After paying the advanced fee, $37, consumers contacting this BBB state, I  received  “a paper card and a magazine to order from,” “I would like my fee refunded to me”.  On May 27, 2005, a temporary Restraining Order was filed by the United States Postal Service. Pending an administrative proceeding the order directs the United States Postal Service to detain the Defendant (Union Workers Credit services, Inc.'s) incoming mail.  When evaluating a credit card solicitation, determine whether the offer is from a bank  that actually issues regular credit cards such as Visa or MasterCard, or from a company that will only assist you in applying for a credit card. Some card offers provide you with a list of banks that offer secured credit cards if you agree to open a savings account
with the bank issuing the card. Other offers provide you with a card which can be used only to order merchandise from the company's catalog. If you purchase a
certain amount from the catalog, the company  The Bureau advises caution when considering any credit card offer that requires you to pay a fee before you can learn all the details of the offer.
